Kings of Leon have just announce that “Radioactive” will be the first single from their new album, Come Around Sundown. It’s set to go to radio on Thursday, September 9th at 7am (yay - exciting!!).
Come Around Sundown will be released on October 18th, but you will be able to pre-order on iTunes starting September 14th and anyone who pre-orders will receive “Radioactive” immediately as a free download! The album will be available in two configurations – standard as well as a deluxe version that will include bonus tracks!

You have got to be kidding!!! Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab after doing a piddly 22 days of her 90 day sentence. Add that to the 13 days served of her 90 day jail sentence and you get a pathetic excuse for a legal system. 35 days of a 180 day sentence completed. Sad. Real sad.

It’s just been announced that Jay-Z will be joining The U2 360° Tour as the very special guest for New Zealand!! We hope he brings Beyonce along for the ride!
The U2 360° Tour kicked off its second European leg in Turin, Italy this month and will visit 17 cities, including Moscow and Istanbul, before finishing at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on 8th October. By the time it reaches New Zealand and Australia, U2 360° will have been seen by over four million fans in 2009 - 2010.
U2 360°is a unique experience for concertgoers - featuring a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, and a steel structure rising 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage. This staging configuration allows for spectacular sight lines throughout the stadium.
Tickets for The U2 360° Tour will go on sale Friday, September 3rd at all usual outlets, at strat at just $39.90! Representing the mere mortals was Taylor Lautner in 2nd place, but it was back to the vamps for the bronze with Ian Somerhalder, aka Damon Salvatore in TV series ‘The Vampire Diaries’, taking out the number three spot.

Rhythm & Vines have announced the first instalment of their mega three-day line-up for 2010 - and it’s a goodie!!
N*E*R*D, Justice (DJ set), Shihad, Chromeo, Boys Noize, Tinie Tempah, Mystery Jets, High Contrast, Miami Horror, Hollie Smith, BARB, P Money, Electric Wire Hustle, Optimus Gryme and Our:House Presents.
A hybrid of rock ‘n roll, funk and hip-hop, R&B, pop, country, blues and even sci-fi, international superstars N*E*R*D fronted by none other than Pharrell Williams are set to explode on the main stage.
Fresh from the release their fourth album NOTHING, the American trio who have toured with the likes of Kanye West, Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco will perform in New Zealand for the first time after having to cancel in 2009.
French chart toppers Justice bring their own brand of electro dance to R&V with massive tracks like D.A.N.C.E and DVNO in which “the melodies are ripped to shreds by the beats, electro teaches rock a lesson and pop gets a botox injection.”
Joining them on the dance tip are Canadian electrofunk groovers Chromeo, German electro producer and DJ Boys Noize and Aussie disco-house throwback stylers Miami Horror.
English indie band Mystery Jets are back in Gisborne after a memorable performance in 2008. This quirky quartet will be touring on the back of their infectious ‘Dreaming of Another World’ single that perhaps sums up the unique R&V experience.
The UK’s number one grime artist, rapper Tinie Tempah makes his first trip to our shores, while Welsh drum and base DJ and producer High Contrast returns with his innovative style of production fusing everything from jazz and funk, to film soundtracks and disco.
From closer to home are Kiwi rock heavyweights Shihad who take us into midnight on New Year’s Eve. Super-cool new super-group BARB is the new baby of local darlings Liam Finn, Lawrence Arabia, Eliza-Jane, Seamus Ebbs and Connan Mockasin.
One of the founding fathers of New Zealand dub step, Optimus Gryme spearheads a popular new genre appearing at the festival this summer, while homegrown party brand Our:House hosts the Cellar stage on New Year’s Eve.
Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip-hop, psychedelic and soul, Electric Wire Hustle will have your neck snapping while your ears crane to its soulful vocals.
And back because R&V love them so much are P Money and Hollie Smith, both fresh off their new album releases.
Stay tuned for more artists to be announced in October, along with details of which days/nights artists will be performing over the three days of the Festival.

Well that didn’t last long! J.Lo’s American Idol judge dream is over before it even started! Rumour has it her diva demands got way out of hand and the big guns had to put their feet down. Too bad, we were looking forward to seeing someone with talent and real industry experience on the panel.

Is Katy Perry done with being trashy? The official video for ‘Teenage Dream’ was released today and our sources say it’s worlds apart from the naked-cloud-floating clip for ‘California Gurls’. Besides a bit of M rated hotel hanky-panky in the middle, it’s all very civilized!
The soon-to-be Mrs. Russell Brand (ewwww, don’t do it Katy!) got to cast all of her friends in the video, which was shot in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California. It must have be one big fun party, they sure look like they’re having a good time in these stills from katyperry.com!

Multi-platinum award winner and jetset bohemian Brooke Fraser sent news from her current base in Los Angeles this week that she had a new single on the airwaves, an album in the pipeline and was coming back to NZ to tour in October!
Here’s what the super talented singer had to say about finishing the album on her Facebook page…
“THE ALBUM IS FINISHED! Late last night Joe Zook and I finished the final mix recalls on the record. Husband and I bought wine, cheese and yummies and our Swedish friends came over to our soon-to-be-vacated L.A. apartment with a giant balloon and pez dispensers, and we celebrated into the wee hours. Mastering happens tomorrow which is the official official end of the creative process, and the official official beginning of the next 2 or 3 years of my life. I feel quite numb to be honest. I feel as if I’ve just birthed this album child after months of labour and I’m exhausted and can’t really tell if it’s ugly or pretty, but it’s mine no matter what and I’m glad it’s here.”
Then she went on to give fans a taste of what to expect…
“This record is really different from my last two - but it had to be. (I wouldn’t want this album and “Albertine” to get in a scrap because they both turned up to the party wearing the same outfit.) I have written honestly, sung my heart out and produced my brain off. Yup, you heard. Producing has been a self-rewarding challenge and - wonder of wonders - I’ve pulled it off. Joe Zook engineered and mixed the heck out of it, my boys played amazingly, and I was finally able to fulfill a minor but life-long dream of having lots of lovely horns on my record - trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, cornets - yum! My voice sounds different after years of hard touring and the natural physiological changes that happen to singing voices as their owners age, and as the producer I made the call to keep the beautifully musical flaws there in my vocal takes… a yelp or breathy croak here, a perfectly slightly sharp note there. There’s so much more I want to tell you but I need to keep some things a surprise!”

We’ve got a major girl crush on 18 year old pop singer Sky Ferreira.
Her party pooper record company have disabeled embedding of the new video for her latest single ‘one’ though, which means we can’t play the clip here. But it’s not that good anyway so we don’t really care.
The song itself on the other hand is AMAZING!!! And you can listen to it while watching the cute clip of a record spinning around below… just like the old days.
Move over Bieber - there’s some real talent in town, with a way cooler name.
