Reader Review: Neutrogena Makeup Removers
24/7 Girl’s Product Review Panel got the chance to put three different Neutrogena Makeup remover products to the test. Apart from all being recommended by dermatologists, here’s how each of them claims to work:
Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser: Foams away dirt, oil and makeup, leaves skin feeling fresh and clean.
Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover: Remove every last trace of mascara. Even the stubborn, waterproof kind.
Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes: Remove 99.3% of your most stubborn makeup. You’ll have no makeup in no time.

Name: Sharanya Sankaran Overall, I thought the product was great for wiping off makeup in one quick and easy step, which is great when you’re in a rush or too tired to take off makeup. I will definitely keep using it for eye makeup. |

Name: Tori K Also, I wear contact lenses and have quite sensitive eyes, so I was really careful about using these at first, but to my surprise they didn’t sting my eyes at all. I would definitely continue to use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They’re easy to use and get rid of ALL traces of makeup, which has to leave my skin in better condition. |

Name: Sarah Dewbery “Somewhat dissolves waterproof mascara” would have been a more accurate claim, however. I found the towelettes to do a reasonable job, but hardly deserving of a wow. That’s not to say that this product is bad news. I loved that they were gentle enough for me to use around my eyes (which is a big thing for me), would be great for travelling, and that they left my skin feeling clean with no dryness. So the overall verdict: Great for gentle makeup removal, however don’t expect your mascara to come off so easily. |

I don’t wear makeup very often, but when I do I use facial wipes. It works well with foundation, but with any eye makeup it never gets it all off and in the morning I wake up with black lines under my eyes from mascara. I need to start wearing makeup every day soon when I get a new job, so hopefully I find something that works. Posted by 26734 "on" 10/28 "at"08:36 PM |

I find that water-proof mescara is realy hard to remove and sometimes takes up to half an hour of intense scrubbing to get off complietly. make up can be fun (: but taking it off is the worst part, haha. usually i wear mae up at night which means it then has to be taken off before i go to bed when i really just wanna sleep :/ thats why wipes would be so good and easy. most of the time though i use a make up remover (the oil one) then a face wash to remove the oil and remaining makeup and finally moisturiser because you have to mositurise to get beautiful looking and feeling skin (: Posted by Nikki11997 "on" 10/19 "at"07:28 PM |

after a big night out i always use wipes, not sure on any particular brand as they always claim to do the same thing so which ever one i come across first i usually buy. On a normal night I use a face cleanser, also again no particular brand, usually one that says it helps clear up your skin as well Posted by Sophie V "on" 10/19 "at"04:56 PM |

I’m a makeup artist and wear makeup every day so I need something great to take off all teh makeup. I haven’t tried the Neutrogena brand towelettes yet but would love to try them. At the moment i’m using dove towelettes but I think I need a change because they aren’t taking off the makeup as well as i’d like them too so this may be the anwser for me =] Posted by 44627 "on" 10/19 "at"03:30 PM |

I feel naked without wearing make up. Mascara especially is my vice. It is important to remove your makeup fully the night before, because there is nothing worse than waking up in the morning with a creative masterpiece on your pillow! I use make up remover wipes for my foundation and eye makeup. I then use a hot flannel to wipe away any lingering bits of mascara/eye liner from my eye area. Posted by Lovee "on" 10/19 "at"01:48 AM |

I always wash my face first just using warm water as it is all pure and I know no extra chemicals are touching my face. I then use natural wipes by St. Ives to wipe all excess make up off and then with cold water. This really allows my pores to breath and pat dry with a towel, I never rub in as my skin is sensitive. my make up normally consists of eye liner, mascara, foundation, lip gloss and eye shadow. goin out and having fun is a biggie with me so when i get back to look in the mirror and see everything smeared and mucked up i have to clean it off/up. now this ritual for me normally goes along these line; using water and cloths or even wipes but it normally just mucks up even more so then its plan b scrub and scrub and scrub until my face feels dry and gross. im sending this in to persuade you to send me the make up remover because obviously i need help( and alot of it too ) lol. Im quite bad, But for me it works, and i NEVER get face pimples. I use an oil based eye makeup remover, or baby oil ONLY to get my eye makeup off, it seems to come off without any harsh scraping. & the rest of my face, I use a foaming gel cleanser, something like Neutrogena, & immediately wash off, and tone with Neautrogena Toner, then finish up with Clean & Clear oil-free Moisturiser. I always found Neutrogena such an amazing product, simply because it doesnt irritate the skin, & always leaves my skin feeling fresh & clean. Whenever I wear makeup I use Dove’s foaming make up remover to get rid of it, though as easy as that is to use at the end of the night sometimes I’m just so tired at the end of a night out that I skip it and use one of the Neutrogena makeup remover wipes that I keep on the nightstand next to my bed because I know I shouldn’t wear makeup to bed. I smooth oil of olay moisturiser over my face, then using a warm damp muslin cloth I gently wipe my face clean..foundation, eye shadow & eye liner cleans off easily. it leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft, i’v been using this routine for years my mum does the same, her skin still looks amazing at 50! I don’t usually wear alot of make-up but when i do, because i have so many different brands, they tend to wear off at different paces. Some not at all. I generally just use supermarket brands facial wipes that tend to dry out my skin. If they don’t work i wash my face then apply moisturiser. But luckily i have a guy who doesn’t mind that i don’t wear make-up so alot of the time i get away with none. Posted by Kellyanne Hill "on" 10/09 "at"05:35 PM |

I seldom wear make up but I do quite a bit of performing which means show make up! Taking that stuff on and off is sooo hard on the skin. I’ve found the Neutrogena eye make up removal stuff really great - otherwise if i’m going through a poor patch and can’t afford it the cream eye make up removers are gentle too. But sneakiest thing I do to get rid of panda eyes? Cotton bud + moisturiser - works everytime!!! Posted by janetvan93 "on" 10/08 "at"05:41 PM |

In the shower, a gentle cream cleanser and lots of hot water and a clean flannel. At night, fresh cotton swabs and a gentle liquid makeup removing solution (I use Elizabeth Arden). interesting reading, i always feel bad if I don’t ever take my make up off at night as it is not good for your skin. I am currently using wipes but they are not very good ones as I feel I am rubbing way to much and as others have said the eye area is very delicate and should be treated that way. I use this neutrogena cleanser that the trialists above trialed and it works really well! However, I always wear eye make-up, including waterproof mascara so I almost always need to use make up remover. I use the garnier pure make up remover and I find it very hard to remove all make up. I really need a decent make up remover which will not be that difficult to use. I think the neutrogena make up remover will do the trick (: Posted by jess_xo "on" 10/07 "at"06:46 PM |
| I always make sure I wear lots of moisturizer before applying makeup, to make it easier to get off later on. And usually.. when I try to get it off the makeup remover only has a drop in the bottom of the bottle or it’s completely empty, which means i have to resort to other methods. While experimenting I found that shampoo works really well (as long as you don’t get it in your eyes, it stings!!) And then I wash it off with warm water and a flannel. I have tried various methods: cleansing gel, cleansing foam, wipes etc. I find some foams and gels sting, depending on how sensitive your skin is or how harsh the product is. Wipes can be very handy, however, you have to pull at your skin quite a bit, so I prefer to avoid them unless I’m in a hurry or travelling. After cleansing, I always gently wash my face with a mild cleanser and then put on an oil-free moisturizer and ensure I get a good night’s sleep so my skin looks great the next day! I use a lot of make up,also. I usally use wipes and a make up remover cream to remove all the excess make up in the night after I have cleansed and toned. But a lot of the time it doesn’t all come off, which can be really frustrating. Especially when you wake up in the morning with pander-eyes Posted by lindsey "on" 10/06 "at"11:51 AM |

I wear quite a lot of makeup , especially eye liner and mascara , it can be a mission to get off specially with make-up wipes that are just useless , neutrogena is an excellent brand for make-up removing but unfortunately my mum doesnt buy it for me haha. i remove my make up by a make up remover cream Posted by Tegan:) "on" 10/06 "at"11:12 AM |
