its not what you know , its who you know!! finding some one who you now ( or someone you knws!) who happens to be a pro at hair ups could be the answer to finding a cheap way for you and ur friends to have fab hair styles come ball night. Maybe you can ask around family and friends for help. then when you have found that someone maybe ask them if they would be keen on doing a couple of your friends hair for the big night in exchange for some $ or even free babysitting hours etc?

I think it’s best to go with something out of your face - you don’t want to be flicking hair out of your eyes all night! Plus, it’s the smile on your face that people want to see the most, so make sure you feel comfortable whatever you do smile

check with friends for what they’re planning on having their hair look like!!! nothing is worse than showing up with your mates all having ridiculous matching hairstyles smile just be sure to have your style planned before the big night so that nothing goes wrong :D

I really liked Hayden’s hairstyle!!

I love Hayden’s hair up.! I don’t usually like wearing my hair up but her style works coz it’s not flat on the head and still is a little bit wavy.!

It is simply amazing what a hairdresser can do. my hair was only just above my shoulders for both my balls. First time i had a really nice bun with a few messy curled strands. Second time i loved my hair they curled it and pinned it down one side it looked amazing and long

a good tip is if you want to wear ur hair out at your ball you should only wear it up at school for a month before so then when everyone sees you with your hair out it will look really difernt and cool :D or vice versa

i personally love loose curls! i wore hair extensions for my ball, and had my hair curled and pinned at the hair salon. if this is what your going to do, i would suggest that they curl your hair with the hair straightner and not the curling iron thing! because the curling iron makes your extensions stay in ringlets and the rest of your hair will drop so it looks odd. but its so pretty when they’re all loose curls done with the striaghtner.

Instead of paying someone ridiculous amounts of money to do your hair, try looking on YouTube at hair tutorials! There are some amazing hair styles waiting to be tried ! Also sometimes you can get quite hot at a ball and some people prefer to have there hair up it will keep you cooler for longer smile

My ball is in 2 weeks and am so excited. There is so much buzz going around about the hair, makeup and of course… the dresses! I love curls or the loose updo with some curls hanging down. It is important that when people choose what they want that they feel good about themselves afterwards. It is all about being confident with who you are, and having a gorgeous hair style like hayden paneteirre that shows off your gorgeous face and if it also compliments the dress that is an extra bonus smile

My first time going to a formal this year! Planning on booking my hair appointment in soon. What are some of you guys’ favourite looks for ball hairstyles? I’m really not sure what to do with my hair, it’s medium-long brown curly and I have a fringe. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated, and I know they’ll all be good cos you guys are all experts :D thaaaanks!!

I think if you wanna be noticed differently to your everyday look you should do your hair opposite to what it normal is. So if you normal wear it down, then wear it up. If its normally perfectly straight, then let it curl! But if you dont want a change and just want to intensify what you got then just add the make-up and accessories!

if you are booking into a hair dresser, make sure you try and get the latest booking possible, giving time for the work to be done, so then you can be sure it’ll still look great when you enter

When you wash your hair, it’s important to adjust the products to your hair type. The shampoos are all aimed towards a certain hair type (colour treated, dry, frizzy, oily etc.). If you have especially dry hair, be sure to use conditioner. If you have oily hair, considering forgoing the conditioner.

Always rinse you hair with hot water before starting to shampoo. The steam opens the hair follicles for a better clean. Also, when you’ve finished washing your hair, rinse it with cold water so the follicles will close. This will make your hair shinier.

A great blowout is always a good thing to have if you’re planning on leaving your hair out. For maximum volume, first towel dry your hair. Your hair is delicate when wet, so don’t rub it hard, just gently pat it dry and squeeze with a towel. Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb (a brush will damage the hair) and apply some heat protectant. Then, after your hair is two thirds dry, blow dry your hair upside down - this will give it volume. Comb it through again and then blow dry your hair from top to bottom. Take care to keep moving the hairdryer as overexposure to heat will make you hair dry and brittle.

If you want to curl your hair, a curling serum will help hold it for longer. Separate your hair into three sections: top, middle and bottom. Pin up the top two sections and start with the bottom. You can choose to curl inwards or outwards. Defined curls curl the same way, but if you want a more natural look, you can curl both inwards and outwards. There are some great tutorials on YouTube if you want to perfect your technique. Then, repeat the process with the middle and top sections (working from the bottom section up), taking extra care with the top layer. If you have a fringe, don’t curl it, but flick the ends in the direction of your other curls. Mist with a hairspray to set.

To straighten, also work in layers and from the bottom up. If you want your hair to stay straight all night, I’d recommend a Wet-to-Straight, a straightener which straightened wet hair and dries the hair at the same time. Your hair will stay straight for so long!

Match your hair to your dress. If your style is flirty and sweet, go for curls and a half updo. If you have a flowing, long evening dress, an updo is best. If you want to look sexy and sultry, hair out is the way to go. Whatever you choose, make sure it will hold and you won’t be holding your neck awkwardly for the night, afraid to dance for fear that your hairstyle will fall apart.

If you’re wearing a strapless dress, have your hair down to balance the amount of bare space. If you’re wearing a dress with straps, an up-do will look fabulous!

I think it looks nice when long hair is half up half down and curled in places. The way you have the half up is entirely up to you. You may even want to hold it up having twirls.

curls look really nice and fancy at balls in long hair

A simple up do will always give a classy night look. Up dos will always look good throughout the entire night, having your hair down there’s more chance it’ll flatten or frizz (depending on your hair type). Having your hair up you won’t have to touch it the whole night, the less you touch it the better smile As long as you’re confident and happy with your look, you’ll look stunning smile a month before your ball, start putting in leave in conditioner or a moisture mask at night once a week to ensure super luscious locks!

I recommend getting a practice at your hairdressers before the actual event when it comes to getting your hair done. This will make you feel much more comfortable on the day..knowing that you dont have to worry about your hair… and you can focus on another thing..cos you have already had a practice done! Remember to tell the hairdresser what you think on the practice, so they know exactly what you are after! smile

Wash your hair the night before the ball - not the actual day of the ball. Here that is too clean is hard to style.

If you are going to have your hair done by a stylist then remember to wear a button up top or one that can stretch!!  There is nothing worse than getting home from your hair appointment only to find that you ruin your hair by getting changed.

Make sure you choose a hairstyle that will last the whole evening… if you know curls won’t last in your hair, try a classic sleak hair up do . You can get little bling clips to add that little extra pizazz!

Wear a hairstyle that you look great in. Experiment with your friends! Don’t go over the top cuz you don’t want everyone staring at your hair the whole time you want them staring at your dress and make up! Wear a hairstyle that you can dance in with out bobby pins and hair spray pulling it all night!
