Hairstyles To Try This Year

Make this the year to be brave, bold and confident with a new hairstyle. Whether you dye it, cut it, layer it or simply test out a new do, make the most of your best accessory - your hair! Here are some of the predicted trends for 2012, why not give one a go?
Ladylike. Think va-va-voom volume, beehives, soft pretty curls and glamorous buns. Perfect the ballerina bun and leave loose, tendrils to fall around your face, tease the top section of your hair for extra volume. Accessorize with a bow, hairband or pretty clip.
Not-So-Humble Ponytail. This really is a girl’s best friend. This year ponytails can be high and bouncy, low and shiny, or - as seen on models at Herve Leger - split into three parts. Split hair into three sections, tie each part up in a hair elastic, then join all three sections into one ponytail at the bottom of your head.
Braids. They were big in 2011 and they will be big again in 2012. Experiment to your hearts content with fishtail braids, side braids, french plaits, corn rows on one side, and milk maid braids. Plait a ribbon or scarf into a long loose braid for a pretty summer look.
The New Wave. Tousled beachy waves will give way to a new style of wave this year. Made to look un-done and not in the least bit fussy, this style only requires a light, rough blow dry then a soft curl with straightening irons. Run your hands through the finished look to mess it up a bit. It needs to look sleek yet un-styled.
Accessorize to Excess! Whatever you do with your hair this year, be sure to accessorize it. Add ribbons, bows, pins, clips, feathers, flowers and headbands wherever and whenever you can.
Rainbow Connection. Hair colour has no boundaries in 2012 and the pinks, greens and blues we saw in 2011 are set to become even wilder. Vibrant hues not for you? Add a coloured hair piece that you can simply unclip when you get sick of it or want to try another colour.
