Antiperspirant or Deodorant?

We take a look at your options for beating body odor.

Deodorant allows you to sweat, but prevents odor by combating it with antiseptic agents, which kill odor-causing bacteria.

Antiperspirants contain fragrance, but they also contain chemical compounds that enter your body through a sweat duct and form a temporary plug to stop you from sweating - a bit like a cork in a wine bottle.

Body Sprays only contain fragrance and don’t prevent sweating or odors. Their main function is to smell nice and can be used all over the body as an alternative to perfume.

Wow, i didnt know that about antiperspirant. Eeeek. Been using Rexona Confidence for years, mainly because i havent found any other scents that smell nice on, most are soooo strong and interfere with your perfume scent or just plain stink. :( maybe i’ll check out Lush.

Wouldn’t antiperspirant be bad for you skin if it plugs it? Like maybe cause pimples under your arms? I dunno smile

I have more confidence in roll-on as it seems like it covers more, the problem with it is that it blocks your pores (or so i’ve heard..) sooo i like spray-on more. I dislike that spray-on is more expensive. I usually try to have both, so i can have one in my cupboard and one in my schoolbag. I think if i could i’d use spray-on most of the time, it also doesn’t look as strange as putting roll-on on in a public place hahahaha.

I have been using an antipersperant until a week or two ago, because i had gotten a very painfull reaction to antipersperant. So researched a bit this is what I found: Sweating is your bodys way to get rid of junk that it does not need, by using antipersperant you are not allowing your body to do this instead it has to store it in your breast area, later on it can cause breast cancer. So please take my advice and stick to deodrant.

I’ve often wondered about the implications of using antiperspirant versus deoderant. It doesn’t seem to be very natural to plug up your pores with an active chemical to prevent the body doing what it naturally does.
