How To: Makeup Colour Blocking
Colour blocking isn’t just about what you wear! Extend the colour blocking trend to your makeup look as well ..... if you dare!
1. Apply your regular makeup base. As this is a bright, almost tropical look, it might pay to add a little extra bronzer as well as some highlighting shimmer on your brow bones and cheekbones.
2. Select three different BRIGHT eyeshadow colours. The picture shows orange and peachy colours, but I like turquiose, aqua and gold. You will also need a thick, coloured eyeliner pencil. If you’re going for a blue look, use a dark blue pencil, for the pictured look use a coral orange colour.
3. Apply the same technique used in our Easy Smokey Eye tutorial. You will apply the eye makeup in layers - starting with the thick eyeliner pencil, then building onto that using the eyeshadows, darkest to lightest.
4. Finish your eye makeup with a good lashing of dark, volumising mascara. The truly daring may wish to use a coloured mascara - blue always looks exotic with tanned skin.
5. To really frame the bright eyed look you have created, ensure that your eyebrows are nicely tidied with no stray hairs. If you have particularly light brows, colour them in to make them look thicker and darker.
6. Now for your lipstick/gloss. Select either one or two colours. A cool colour combo is bright red and fuschia pink. Slick one colour on your bottom lip, and the other colour on you top lip. If you’re worried about getting too many stares, stick to just one bright colour - it will still look fab!
7. This bright trend looks great with a sultry black dress and glowing skin. Throw on some gold accessories and you’ll be the epitome of Miami Vice glamour!

Love the pic above. I used to do this ages ago. Bright orange and blue go surprisingly well together too. Some of my mates thought it looked odd but you get heaps of positive comments, it’s fun. Posted by Bobannie "on" 02/19 "at"12:22 PM |
