2010’s hottest makeup trends
Christina Houghton is an American makeup artist living in New Zealand. Through teaching simple every day beauty ideas she believes a woman can change her view on how she feels and looks - for the better! On a recent trip to the States Christina had a chance to sit down with the vivacious Andrew Lundberg, a top makeup artist who has a vast knowledge of new trends, hot looks, runway makeup and big fat ‘NOs’. Read on to find out what they both have to say…
Speaking to Andrew I could tell that he was bursting with passion, mainly through his animated hand actions and infectious laugh. Laying it on the line he claims there are three types of woman in the world: Woman who wear natural makeup, glam girls and woman that don’t have a clue. If you don’t want to be in that last group then ladies, listen up and take note!
Christina: So Andrew, what has been the biggest look this season?
Andrew: Well the no makeup look is huge. But the difference is it’s the no makeup look with a small amount of color. Either emphasise the eyes, lips or cheeks. But just PICK ONE, please! Not all three.
C: What is one thing every woman should try this coming season?
A: Go bright! Go red and orange on the lips. Try going dark from the middle of the lips and fade it out.
C: What would you say is this season’s must have product?
A: I would say M.A.C’s Fix Plus Spray. It will leave your skin hydrated and luminous. The luminous look is very in, and no one should ever look dry.
C: What makeup trends can we expect to see this year?
A: Vibrance! Vibrant is coming. Some 80’s colours but you will be seeing a lot of lily and pastel colours. Just go bright!
C: Summer means party season in New Zealand, what makeup looks should 24/7 Girls be going for?
A: Embrace the smokey eye. Don’t be afraid of using high impact glitter for a bit of x-factor, keep your skin looking fresh and luminous, and team with a pale lip for a dramatic night look.
C: Any tips for creating smokey eyes?
A: Smoke the bottom eye line like crazy and go for a rounded look at the corners. Use black and blend it really well.

I stopped putting liner on the bottom of my lashes cause it tended to smudge a lot and give me panda eyes whenever I used pencil, liquid liner is faster and cleaner, smokey eyes look so hot! i love that look Posted by POWERBALLIN25 "on" 08/12 "at"05:26 PM |
