Dressing like a celeb
How do you wear comfy clothes without looking sloppy? Celebs wear jeans and oversized tees and baggy sweatshirts and they always have great style, but I just look like I haven’t even tried to make an effort!
Buy Quality. When choosing your comfy clothes like jeans, tees and cardis pick quality items over a cheap fix. It can be tempting to be thrifty on these garments because they’re run-a-round clothes, but the trick to looking polished like a celebrity is to buy quality pieces. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on a cashmere cardi or salvage denim to look like your fav celeb, just be a little smarter with your purchases. Check the item thoroughly before you buy. If you see any pulled threads, untidy stitching or even holes, don’t buy it! The garment may look nice on the first wear but after a few washes the wear and tear your new item will end up in the rag-bag. Look for natural fabrics like wool, cotton or leather in an interesting style for that expensive celebrity look without the price tag.
Accessorise. Don’t forget to accessorise! Adding a belt and jewellery to your outfit will make you look like you’ve made a huge effort, without really trying. An easy way to do this is by picking a few rings, a necklace and a belt that you know go together then add it to all your daytime outfits. It will really make a difference to how you feel in your clothes.
Make sure it fits! We all know we’re not supposed to buy anything too big or too small, but for some reason we all still do, even me! Whether it’s shoes, jeans or tees it’s important to buy the right size to achieve that celebrity look. Fortunately with their mega budget celebs are able to tailor their clothes to fit, where as us mere mortals have to rely on smart shopping. Buy garments that flatter, in your size – it’s that simple.
Look after your clothes. Don’t forget to care for your clothes properly. Celebrities always wear clean, pressed clothes, and you can tell. Check the care tags for washing instructions and follow them. Washing clothes that need to be dry-cleaned can wreak havoc on the fabric and even ruin them, trust me, i’ve learnt the hard way! I guarantee celebs never fish their outfits out of the washing basket seconds before they put them on, so try to out a bit more thought into your outfits and caring for them.
Last, but certainly not least, wear your clothes with confidence. Confidence shines through any outfit - it’s the ultimate celebrity accessory.
