Hey Girls, who else is really annoyed by the governments choice to raise the driving age to 16 from August 1st? I personally think this is unnecessary and uncalled for. Apart from the fact that people with their learners can only drive with supervision of a fully licensed adult anyway, I believe the problem is driver’s with their restricted who think they own the road! Other options could possibly be making the test more difficult and expanding the time length that you need to stay on your learners. I know alot of 14 year olds which will be 15 after August 1st that are much more mature and responsible they some born before August 1st. Some haven’t even driven a car before! We should not be judged by our age, but our levels of maturity and experience! mad What do you think ? xx

Yeah I’d have to say the opinions of those who already have their licenses are very different from those who miss out by only a few days smile Hahaha.

Its Silly! age doesnt come into acount of being a good driver or not! its just the younger kids who be stupid when driving that ruin it for everyone else.
In 20 and have had a couple of accidents (not major ones thankgod) and thankfully they didnt involve other cars but its not the age it all comes down to the person. Some people are really good drivers and some others just dont get it.

I don’t really mind. I turn 16 in September so I can just get my license in 2 months compared to other people who may need to wait another year :L I’m not in a hurry anyway, since Dad takes me everywhere I want to go. I’m kinda scared of going on the road cause I have really bad hand-eye coordination skills! :/
But I think it’s a law that needs to be made. So many teens are dying in car crashes especially drink driving accidents. The new law will keep people alive and well so I don’t see why people are so against it.

I’m really annoyed about it being raised because i’m 14 now and i have to wait another 18 months now until i can actually get my lisence. It also sucks because half of my mates were able to get their lisence because they were 15 already. I personally think that the government should just make the tests all harder and make it that everybody has to take defensive driving classes before they can get their full or restricted lisences.

Personally i think that the age is way to young for people to be driving around on our roads, i think that it use to be fine driving around a 15 but now the roads are much more busier. I think they should put the driving age up to at least 17.

as a 19 year old and looking back at being 15, i think 15 is still really young and the age should be changed to at least 16

I think the gap between your learners and restricted should be increased. 6 Months is most definately not enough time to learn how to drive properly, maturely, reactively and safely.
And yet the gap from your restricted to your full is 18 Months. Which is a whole year and a half and the only difference is you can drive with passengers.
So i say vice versa the gaps bewteen time of getting each lisence. Not age.

Considering I am 19 now and have my full licence, looking back when I was 15, I was still an OK driver. I matured pretty quick, so I suppose I was no different then, to what I am now.

I’ve only had one accident, and that was when I hit gravel going to fast. Not because of how old I am.

Unfortunately, you can’t weed out all the responsible drivers. Hell, some 40 year olds can’t drive.

I think it’s a good idea! In England you have to be 17, I think you should be grateful for 16!

Girls are like apples on trees.
The best ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren’t as good, but easy.
So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they’re amazing.
They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who’s brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

I would have been so dissapointed if I had missed out too but I think an extra year of maturity for 15 year olds is a good idea.

Its fustrating how a few teen idiots have to ruin it for everybody!! i am 14 and in year 10 but am young for my year because of when my birthday is so i cant get my learners till at least year 12 which is super annoying and some of my friends in the same year have already got their liscence.
