i have a boyfriend and i recently found out that he smokes ... i dont know what to do…..

well tell him that you dont like what he is doing, and give him your definition of why you do not like it .
and then see what he has to say about it .

let him decide for himself. you don’t want to dump him or him dump you because your overprotective or so he thinks. make sure he knows what smoking causes and what cigarettes contain and stuff but subtly not all in his face. if he doesnt care then lay down some rules like dont smoke around you and stuff.

Its his decision whether he smokes or not. All you can do is tell him that you do not like it and voice your opinion about it. Just tell him that you care about him and that is why you are talking to him about it. If it bothers you alot about second hand smoke then kindly ask him if he can smoke when he’s not around you.

I would think that the thing you should concentrate on the most is why he was hiding it from you. After that is established then you could go on to discourage him from doing it but it is his decision to smoke but if he will not give up for you then there is only one thing to do. unless you like the smell of old smoke? 2nd hand smoke kills so in a way he mite end up hurting you more than you think.

and if you haven’t noticed so far it hasn’t effected him very much. I’d just talk to him and try work it out, maybe you can come to a compromise, or get him to slowly stop smoking. most people who do smoke want to stop anyway, they just lack the motivation. good luck
