just wondering what your guys views are about family violence?or have you been apart of it to?
being a witness of it, i know it sucks and can tear familys apart.
so views guys ??

My uncle is the head of the child abuse department in the police force (wellington) he can never give exact details as its against rights but some days he gets so distraut due to the cases.
I can’t see how any one could possibly hurt members of their own family, it weird to think why they would do that? are they born violent or made violent?
Since the anti smacking bill has been introduced there has been a major increase in cases but the thing is family violence has always been around only now has it been brought to peoples attention, which is really a good thing.

Either way it is horrible but instead of being too shocked and scared to support those dealing with it, people have to make themselves part of those situations to help.

NZ has a disgusting amount of family violence- often ending in CYF’s & more so lately the deaths of innocent babies & young children.

Violence can occur in any cultural or economic setting- & having worked as a youth work I have seen many many cases. Commonly parents who have kids, but who are immature & the cycle seems to pass on & on. its sad.

Theres also the underlying stigma that violence is fine- guys beat the crap out of each other, chicks are emotionally abusive & ppl seem to have stopped listening to whats right & whats wrong.

I feel for anyone affected ny family violence. New Zealand does have a disgusting amount of domestic violence and I think it’s an issue that people need to be more aware of and stand up against it.
