Over the last few months I’ve lost 5kg by doing more exercise and checking food labels. I feel great about this but finding my weight harder to maintain as my working hours have increased. I work 7am - 4pm at least 4 days a week. I make sure that I get up by at least 6am so that i can go for a quick 10min jog and I bike to work which takes about 15mins. I always eat breakfast and think i eat pretty healthy for morning tea and lunch but it is when I get home from work that I tend to pig out on anything! And tired from a day at work which is on my feet all day, I never seem in the mood to exercise. Any suggestions to stop eating so much after work and fitting more exercise in?? Thanks!

Wow, first up what an amazing transformation you’ve made! Proves you’ve got what it takes to make changes and stick to them. It sounds like your change in work routine has upset your eating and exercise routine a bit - but not that much. You’re still up early and eating well for the majority of the time. It’s just that afternoon snacking that’s the killer!  make sure you’ve always got good healthy food at home so there’s no excuse (see our snack food articles here http://www.247girl.co.nz/health_fitness/page/6_healthy_snacks_in_a_flash/

As for exercise, why not keep that to the morning as it seems like you have no trouble getting up early and seem to have more energy then too. xx Ella

I had a similar problem fitting exercise and healthy eating in around study, but I found that exercising in the morning (just 30min) made me feel really good the rest of the day and I was able to properly relax when I got home without that guilty feeling. I also found that snacking on veggies (like carrots with cottage cheese) or having a cup-a-soup filled the spot until dinner =) x

Congrats on your loss :D

I’ve just managed to loose 20kg in the last 5 months, by watching my diet and exercising.  My nutrionist says that if i’m hungry have a cup of tea (with sweetner if you normally have sugar), this will help to fill the hunger gap.  I also drink at least 1.5 L water per day which also keeps me full.

Sumtimes the hunger feeling can mean that you are actually thirsty.

In regard to the exercise after work, I work from 8.30 - 5pm, it takes me 1/2 hour to get home in the car.  As soon as I get home i get changed and then head out for a walk for 1/2 hour each night.  If you do it as soon as you get home before dinner it will take your mind off being hungry and you won’t be home to snack.

Hope some of this helps smile

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don’t and believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it.
