Why butter isn’t all bad
It’s true, butter does contain high levels of dietary cholesterol and saturated fat, so eating heaps of it (as with any kind of fat), isn’t a healthy choice.
On the other hand, a little butter on your sammies or mashed potato won’t hurt! If you’re determined to go with a butter substitute, look for one that’s trans fat free (they’re the ‘bad’ fats). Margarine is generally plant based, and therefore isn’t high in cholesterol, but some types do contain trans fats. Top bread with avocado, or drizzle it with olive oil as a great butter alternative - add spices and/or balsamic vinegar for a tasty treat!
Tip: Rather than eliminating butter from your diet completely, simply reduce your daily intake.
