What to do when your tuckshop sucks
So tuckshops are getting healthier (supposedly). But if yours isn’t and you’re not into what they’re serving, check out some tips on how to eat healthy at school if your tuck shop sucks.
1. Take your own. Making your lunch can be last on your list when you’re rushing - so make it the night before! Or have a few healthy back-ups on hand like muesli bars, (just make sure it has less than 10% fat and is low in sugar) fruit - or those little tuna snackpacks - you can grab on your way out the door. It’ll help you save tuckshop stops for treat emergencies!
2. Have a word to whoever stocks the tuckshop. There’s nothing wrong with a pie every now and then, but if there’s a serious lack of healthy options at your school tuckshop, talk to the people who run it about bringing in things like fruit and yoghurts for snacks, and fresh salads, sandwiches and soups for lunch.
3. Stop on the way. If you had to run for the bus, but have a little time to kill at the other end, stop at a local supermarket or café to get something you’ll really enjoy eating at lunch. If that’s not an option, ask permission to leave school grounds to pick something in your lunch hour - never know, they might say yes!

| Yeah, I always take my own lunch because there’s hardly any good food at the canteen. Best way to go I reckon. Posted by MelissaW "on" 10/05 "at"03:51 PM |
