Name: Mel Pollard

Q. What’s your job title and where do you work?
A. I work at Mokai Gravity Canyon in Taihape. I am part of the Bungy Crew and I also do Regional Marketing.
Q. What does your job involve? Give us a run down of what you do in a typical day.
A. I spend four days a week operating the Bungy, Flying Fox and Giant Swing, signing people up for activities and helping in the café. One day a week I visit tourism operators and accommodation providers in the Ruapehu and Wanganui region and put in place joint marketing strategies.
Q. What’s the best thing about your job?
A. Working outdoors in the summertime, getting a tan, and scaring the crap out of people!!!!
Q. Any downsides?
A. Working in the cold and the rain!!!
Q. Did you study? Whereabouts?
A. I studied at Sir George Seymour College in Hamilton and I did a Certificate in Tourism Operations and Guiding.
Q. What did you like about studying there?
A. I met some awesome people and I enjoyed the small classes.
Q. Any advice for girls who are hoping to work in a similar role?
A. Get some experience in the Tourism Industry!!
