How to write a resignation letter
Take the stress out of writing a resignation letter by following these three tips!
*Keep it short and to the point
*State the facts (your role, that you’re resigning and your ideal final day)
*Be polite
Click here for examples of resignation letters.
It’s a good idea to tell your boss in person that you’re leaving, but following up your conversation with a formal letter of resignation is really important. If there are any discrepancies in the future over the details of your resignation a written record could prove crucial - and sending it to them via email is also a good idea as it gives you and your employer an electronic record of exactly when you handed your notice in, as well as any dialogue around it.
Remember: You never know who you’ll end up working with/for again, so it pays to leave things on a good note! For more on how to leave a job well, read this.
