The Girl Effect
Life may not be perfect, but we’re pretty lucky in NZ to be able to take things like education, healthcare, the freedom to marry who and when we want - the freedom to be whatever, and whoever we want to be - for granted. Unfortunately, there are 600 million girls in the world for whom this is not the case.
The Girl Effect initiative centres around the idea that, by giving the 600 million adolescent girls in the developing world a better chance at life by providing them with education, medical assistance and loans, they will in turn invest into and improve their villages - which will impact their country for the better, and reduce poverty in the long term. As things stand today, however, according to the Girl Effect website, “[Girls are] more likely to be uneducated, a child bride, and exposed to HIV/AIDS. Less than two cents of every international development dollar is directed to [them].”
Girls are way more vulnerable than boys in developing countries. They’re also a lot more likely to aid their family and wider communities if offered aid themselves. Men will always feel they have more power in the world than women because of the simple fact that they are stronger. Women need to push forward and show the men that they have a say in this world and that the strength that comes from us is different than just the physical strength that they think over powers all women around the world. in developing countries, girls are really equal to guys they just have different strengths and weakness as do every female in the world. Some men cant cook in those countries so without a woman they wouldn’t be able to live. All men have come from woman just like everything else that is on this earth so i don’t know why men just abuse and take advantage of woman. If woman became extinct then so would man.
