Dreaming of… the Sweat Shop

Stumbled across an article about this beautiful boutique in a past edition of Vogue Living Australia, and I’m in love!
Described as ‘a sewing version of a cyber-café’, Sweat Shop is a sewing café located in Paris’ Canal Saint-Martin neighbourhood, started by Austrian-born designer Sissi Holleis and Swiss-born make-up artist Martena Duss.
The pair rent out their 10 Singer sewing machines for 6 euros an hour, and offer sewing, crochet and knitting classes, as well as demonstrations by designers (including one from Sweat Shop neighbour Agnès B) and kits with fabrics and instructions from 25 euros. Of course, if you just want to have a tea or coffee you’re more than welcome. Such a great idea!

Great idea. I can just imagine the sounds of whirring Singers and ladies chatting with the sound of teacups clinking in the background, brilliant. Posted by Bobannie "on" 02/22 "at"10:27 AM |
Best of the rest
