Dreams about teeth falling out
Apparently, dreaming about your teeth falling out can indicate underlying feelings of anxiety - but most people who struggle with anxiety don’t need a dream to tell them they’re anxious!
Feelings of anxiety can be incredibly overwhelming, easily triggered and really hard to control. As someone who’s been there, here are three of my top, simple tips for controlling anxiety.
Breathe deep. When I’m anxious I tend to hold my breath, and the lack of oxygen only makes me feel more anxious! When you feel anxiety starting to build, stop what you’re doing and take some big, deep breaths. It sounds really simple but it will help you to centre yourself, and give you a minute to calm your mind and emotions.
Look after yourself. Anxiety is actually our body’s way of telling us it’s overwhelmed or that something’s wrong. Whether it’s something that’s easy to identify or a deep emotional issue you have to really spend some time bringing to the surface, it’s so important to listen to your body’s cues.
Looking after yourself physically is really important too: eat well, rest up and do something nice for yourself!
Address the cause. You know when there’s something you know you’ve got to do but you keep putting it off - and then when you finally do it you feel a huge sense of relief? Sometimes avoiding doing or thinking about things we’re afraid of, or feel overwhelmed by, can make them even more overwhelming or scary. Act now and you’ll save yourself all that extra stress!
These are a few basic ways of coping with feelings of anxiety, but to really deal to it it’s important to explore the underlying causes. Talking to a counsellor or even journalling about how you feel can help you understand why you feel panicked so often, which is the first step towards kicking anxiety - and the scary teeth dreams - to the curb for good!

I have this dream probably about once a month, but I do suffer from pretty severe anxiety. Most nights I’ll lay in bed having rolling panic attacks for about an hour or so - worst feeling in the world. I try a lot of relaxation techniques.. but it’s almost impossible to stop them once I’ve started - I’m hyper alert and convinced that someone will break into my house and murder my partner and I in our sleep (this isn’t from a previous bad experience. Yy house has never even been broken into… touch wood). It’s pretty exhausting and I’ve been like this for at least 6-7 years. Needless to say it’s affecting my everyday life so if anyone can suggest anything I haven’t tried I’m all ears Posted by katiebell "on" 07/08 "at"05:31 PM |
| That’s really interesting! I’ve never had this dream before, but I think it’s pretty fascinating to decode your dreams and tap into your subconscious. I’ve had a few dreams in which events have occurred that I can put down to stuff that was happeneing in my life at the time. Posted by ILR "on" 05/26 "at"06:53 PM |

Wow ! that’s really interesting! A few weeks or months ago I had a dream where all my teeth fell out, I woke up crying thinking they actually had ! Because I had braces it made me even more scared thinking wow all that money down the drain ! Lucky it was only a dream! I do dream about my teeth quite alot now like once my front tooth was sticking out at a 90 degree angle. Now I ALWAY panic about my teeth and take extra care about them. Its interesting how it can mean I have anxiety because I do panic alot. Thanks for letting me know that ! Posted by Cassidyiscool "on" 05/08 "at"01:07 PM |
| Thank you 24/7 Girl - I have have had actul nightmares as a regular occourance where I lose teeth and can taste the blood in my mouth - I’ve had them since I was diagnosed at 12 with Friedreichs Ataxia [muscular dystrophy] so it makes sense as being anxiety related! Knowiung why something happens is good as it helps calm me down so I really am appreciative to read this. Posted by sunflower80 "on" 05/04 "at"12:21 PM |
| I’ve had this dream a few times, and I did think I was the only one. It’s comforting to know I’m not crazy! Posted by Georgiaaa "on" 03/09 "at"05:03 PM |

Wow, so I’m not the only person in the world who has this dream? I wonder what causes us to dream this…perhaps grinding teeth at night unconsciously? It’s fascinating how we can pull in outside elements, incorporating them into our dreams. I’ve started keeping a dream journal to monitor and track the elements and subjects of my dream. They’re all unique, but there have been some recurring themes (one of the cooler ones being an undercover operative with guns and fast cars—yeah, girls can kick butt!), and I also notice that often people or objects that have come to my attention within the last day or two randomly incorporate into my dreams at night, even if I hadn’t thought about them for months before that. I love how in dreams you aren’t inhibited by social norms and policies…everything you feel is raw emotion and you can truly gauge your personality and reactions from how you react to situations in your dreams! Never experienced that dream, but i was having dreams of running through corn fields or something with extremely large plants. I was told that’s also to do with anxiety and stress Posted by Shauna "on" 02/17 "at"04:24 PM |

I love the gym and currently training to be a personal trainer. I find that when i don’t exercise I get anxious and don’t feel at ease with myself. Exercising helps me to clear my head, think straight and have sweet dreams! Posted by VaVaVOooOm_BaBYYY "on" 02/12 "at"01:35 PM |

I get this dream so often! But personally I think its less about anxiety and more about the fact that my teeth are slightly crooked and my tongue can feel some more than others haha
I don’t really let dreams freak me out too much and can usually tell when I’m feeling down without them. Although it is still interesting the way they can reflect upon real life. Posted by Bayley "on" 02/09 "at"07:31 PM |
