Ice Cream at Brooklyn Bridge Park
When it comes to naming neighbourhoods, New Yorkers love a good acronym. There’s Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal St - seriously!), Soho (South of Houston), Nolita (North of Little Italy). One of the sweetest spots is Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). It’s an area often skipped by visitors to New York, but really is worth checking out. Walk around the water and you’ll find yourself in the newly developed Brooklyn Bridge Park, at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge, with an incredible view of Manhattan across the water. You can walk the bridge into Manhattan, or just chill in the park on the Brooklyn side and enjoy the view.
Went down there with my friend Elle the other night to grab a scoop at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (yum!). I have to say, it doesn’t get much better than ice cream at sunset on a balmy night! If you’re in the mood for something more savoury, Grimaldi’s is right there on Old Fulton St - they’re one of the best old school pizza spots in the city.
