NYC Blog: 2011 Dumpling Festival!
So this weekend I went to the annual Dumpling Festival in the Lower East Side! I’m a big fan of a good dumpling, and a chance to sample dumplings from all around the world was too good to pass up! For $20 - which was donated to the NYC Food Bank - we got to try dumplings from four different vendors, and check out the 8th Annual Chef One Dumpling Eating Contest. Ok, that wasn’t my favourite bit (watching people eat as many dumplings as they could under a time limit kinda made me want to vomit a bit), but there’s something special about being able to say you were present when a man set a new record by eating 69 dumplings in 2 minutes.
Favourite dumplings of the day? Hard to say, but I enjoyed the pierogis (Polish dumplings) from Veselka, the veggie dumplings from Tang’s and the spiced apple dumplings from Ivy Bakery and Lounge.
