I’m completely confused about my sexuality!
I’m a thirteen year old girl who’s completely confused about my sexuality. I have a crush on this guy at my school, but I’m also in love with my teacher, who is a woman! I’m not in her class anymore, but I always want to be around her and want to talk to her all the time. I seem to get this nervous feeling whenever I see her. I don’t know if this passion for her is a crush or what. I’m always thinking about her and wishing she felt the same way about me. Am I a lesbian or am I bisexual or straight. I’m so confused!
Sexuality is complicated. Most people can’t just lump their sexuality into a box that says “Straight”, “Gay” or “Bisexual”. It’s better to think of bisexuality as a continuum, with straight at one end, bi in the middle and gay at the other. For example, most people who are bisexual still have a preference for men or women. It may be only a small preference, but it’s there. I also know plenty of completely straight girls who often find themselves staring at another woman because they find themselves attracted to her. They don’t necessarily want to sleep with her, they just find her incredibly attractive. Just because you’re attracted to a woman doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a lesbian. This may be the only woman you’re ever attracted to, and you may spend the rest of your life chasing after boys!
It’s not taboo anymore.
We’re lucky to be living in the kind of society where it’s not taboo to talk about our sexuality anymore. Girls all over the world are free to “experiment” with their sexuality. There’s no need to decide what your sexuality is right now. You’re young, you’ve still got a lot of life experience ahead of you. You may decide in ten years that you only want to date men, or you only want to date girls. You may decide you want to date both. Who knows? But don’t feel like you need conform to any label right now. If you want more information, or to have a chat to someone who knows what you’re going through, visit http://www.rainbowyouth.org. I think it’s normal to be confused about your sexuality, maybe as you grow up you will understand and determine with who you like and who you admire. Posted by POWERBALLIN25 "on" 08/15 "at"10:51 AM |

Hi am reading some questions and answers on here.
And i have to say well done on this article about the 13 year old girl who is confused about her sexuality. i can’t praise you enough on how you answered it. i am a 34 year old lesbian and my partner of 8 years died last February. it sure is a confusing time when one is coming out/deciding what sexual orientation one is. I hope your article helped the young lady on here. Kind regards Nicola. Posted by 60302 "on" 01/14 "at"05:31 PM |
