Nick JonasWho I Am: Nick Jonas and the Administration

Earlier this year, Nick flew to Nashville’s Blackbird Studios with three years worth of song ideas not quite right for the J Bros, and with a band of legendary musicians called the Administrations by his side, he recorded his first solo offering. The result is Who I Am, and if you like heartfelt lyrics and a blues-y sound, it’s worth a listen. And fans of the Jonas Brothers need not be alarmed! Nick’s solo project has the full support of brothers Kevin and Joe - so you can rest assured that it in no way signals the end of the brotherly band. Out now

Marina and the DiamondsMarina and the Diamonds: The Family Jewels

Haven’t heard of Marina and the Diamonds yet? You will. Marina Diamandis is a 50% Greek, 50% Welsh, 100% frolicking fairytale creature, and she’s on everyone who’s anyone’s musical radar. With clever lyrics, super catchy choruses and a undeniable charm, it’s really hard not to like Marina. Especially when she credits a love of ancient Greece, Hello Kitty and Kate Bush as inspiration. And if you have no idea what ancient Greece and Hello Kitty sound like in song form (we sure didn’t), then you’d best be getting yourself a copy of The Family Jewels. Turns out it sounds pretty cool. Valentines DayValentine’s Day OST

The movie cast reads like a ‘hot right now‘ list of Hollywood movie stars, and the soundtrack is its musical equivalent. Chocka block with 18 songs including the brand new single from Taylor Swift, ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ and “Somebody To Love” by Leighton Meester featuring Robin Thicke. Other artists include Michael Franti & Spearhead, Jools Holland and Jamiroquai, Amy Winehouse, Maroon 5, Joss Stone and country legend Willie Nelson - just to name a few! Out Now

Comon Discuss It..
Nick J and the Admin is actually the second ‘solo offering’ of Nick J. Back when he was around 12 or 13 he released “Nicholas Jonas”, a mix of Pop and Christian Pop with his father and brothers. ‘When You Look Me In The Eyes’ was actually originally on this album (and in my opinion much better, it’s absolutely amazing with Kevin singing backup and some different lyrics to the “Jonas Brothers” version). And there’s songs like ‘Appreciate’ and ‘Crazy Kinda Crush On You’ which show Nick J’s range. The label failed to appropriately market the album properly (much as Columbia failed to market “It’s About Time” properly) and it flopped. Which, in some ways, is lucky for us, as it’s possible that had “Nicholas Jonas” taken off, the Jonas Brothers wouldn’t be as we know them today.
