Exfoliating 101
The urge to scrub our skin spotless has hit us all at one point or another, but, as we’ve all learnt the hard way, it doesn’t work. Exfoliating is a great way to remove the oil, dirt and dead skin cells that sit on the surface of our face, revealing a fresh layer of skin that looks and feels clearer. Over exfoliating doesn’t do your skin any favours though. So, in an attempt to prevent any future over exfoliation, we’ve put together the 101 on exfoliating. They’re your questions – answered!

Can I use a body scrub on my face?
No way! Most body scrubs are designed for skin that’s a lot less sensitive than your face, so usually contain some pretty harsh ingredients. We recommend only using products that are made to be used on your face, and the more gentle they are, the better!
Can I exfoliate every day?
Yes you can – if you’re using the right product. Look for a mild formulation that’s gentle enough for everyday use. It’s important to still listen to your skin though. Even when a product states it can be used everyday, your skin might still get irritated if it’s on the sensitive side.

How do I exfoliate?
Step 1: Moisten your face with luke-warm water.
Step 2: Apply a small amount of facial exfoliator to your fingertips.
Step 3: Gently work the product around your face in small, circular motions.
Step 4: Rinse thoroughly with luke-warm water, making sure there is no product residue left on your face.
Step 5: Pat your face dry and follow with a toner and moisturiser.
Tip: Avoid scrubbing under your eyes. Your skin is really thin there and can easily be damaged. Hot water is also a no-no, the skin on your face is super delicate, and it can actually burn it!
If you’ve got a skin question, we’d be happy to answer it - just let us know!
