Man, Mother Nature must be mad with the world right now! Two massive, devastating earthquakes just weeks apart - that’s one unhappy lady! Call me crazy, or paranoid, or whatever else you want to call me, but i’m taking it as a sign to pull up my environmental socks in an attempt to turn her frown upside down (that does sound a little koo-koo, doesn’t it?).
I’ve already started walking to work in the mornings, and the next thing on my list is to go tupperware shopping. I’m a terrible ziplock bag user. One might even say i’m addicted. I use them for everything - food, makeup, storing jewellery, but not anymore! I’m going to direct my obsession towards reusable, washable tupperware. Yeah! Tupperware, the brand that’s been around since the 40’s. It’s the way of the future. Well, the green future. I’m sure it will save me money in the long run too.
Why don’t you try it? You don’t have to go tupperware shopping (you could probably just steal some off your Mum or Granny), just make one small change to your life that will benefit the environment. Like taking the bus once a week instead of driving, or incorporating an organic beauty product into your routine (Madonna and Kate Hudson are big fans of skin care range Juice), every little bit helps.

Is it just me, or is getting engaged the hottest thing to do in Hollywood right now?
Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Richie, Hilary Duff and Katy Perry have all had the question popped recently, rumours are rife that Sienna Miller has started wearing the engagement ring given to her by Jude Law way back in 2004 (he cheated on her not long after that, great basis for a marriage) - even Simon Cowell got down on bended knee!
So obviously there’s something in the celebrity water, or maybe they’re all just lonely, who knows, the thing that’s really got me going, is the rings! Apparently little Hils, who’s only 22, got a 1.4 m-i-l-l-i-o-n dollar rock slipped on her finger, Simon forked out over half a mill for the makeup artist who stole his heart, and Nicole was so set on getting the perfect sparkler (probably trying to out-do Hilary, who happens to be her fiance’s ex) she spent hours at celebrity jeweller Neil Lane’s studio designing her four-carat round diamond ring with him.
OTT? Try completely excessive! I mean, come on! Imagine how many people you could feed with that kind of cash. Imagine how many houses you could build in Haiti! Don’t get me wrong, I get the desire to have a nice engagement ring. It’s meant to be with you for the rest of your life and passed down through generations and bla, bla bla, but where do you draw the line? Imagine walking around with over a million dollars worth of ring on your finger! I’d be terrified of going outside incase someone beat me up and stole it! What do you think? Rant with me in the comment section below.

I’m not a big TV watcher, well at least not a generic TV watcher. I watch certain programs religiously, like Entourage and House and Grand Designs (my secret Living Channel obsession), but I don’t just watch TV for the sake of watching it. Last night however, I did. One show after the other on TV2. Bad move. It turns out Tuesday night is full of big fat television fails.
First up was The New Zealand Apprentice, with its debut screening. And it was more than a bit ####. Terry what’s his name is no Mr. Trump and who calls their team Athena or Number 8 (as in wire - seriously!)? The bit where it really fell on its face was the task the teams were given - selling sausages. Yip, the old banger and bread. On the US Apprentice they open sports facilities and raise thousands of dollars for charities. On the NZ Apprentice they do a sausage sizzle with the winning team pulling in a sweet 700 bucks.
And then their was The Good Wife. Admittedly, it was far more enjoyable than the Apprentice, but since when do lawyers do detective work to win their cases? Believable court room drama? I think not.
I’ve saved the best till last though. It wasn’t on TV2, but my favourite live to air fail was Liam Gallagher pulling a Kanye at the BRIT awards. In true dickhead style the Oasis frontman snubbed the BRITS by accepting the award with a swear word-ridden rant, throwing his trophy into the audience and strutting offstage. All the while sporting a rather large ‘too cool for school’ chip on his shoulder. You can see him in all his immature glory below. Unfortunately the profanities have been muted, but you get the idea. I particularly like the ‘knobhead’ comment at the end. ‘Knobhead’. Such a funny english thing to say.

Alexander McQueen is dead! That’s super sad. He was only 40 years old and so so talented. I’m particularly devastated because I won’t have the chance to ever own a pair of Alexander McQueen original shoes, like the ones I’ve been lusting after on net-a-porter for months. I imagine anything designed by the man himself will now be snapped up and appearing on ebay for prices even more astronomical than the originally astronomical price. These little puppies for example are 485 pounds, which is a cool $1080 NZ. Hence the reason I have been ‘lusting’ after them, and not purchasing. If only I didn’t have to pay rent….

Hello Ladies.
I spent the weekend in the gorgeous Opito Bay attending the wedding of two very lovely people. The weather was great, the ceremony was beautiful, the food was AMAZING and the speeches were brief and very very funny. All the elements required for a perfect wedding in my books. Unfortunately getting to the wedding was anything but perfect….
First of all I got locked inside the place I was staying (long story) and had to climb out of a window. While very awkwardly doing so I caught my heel on the hem of my dress and pulled down a rather large portion of it. Of course I had nothing to pin it back up with so I had to stick it together with a couple of plasters I had in my bag!
The drive to the venue took about 30mins and with the sun beaming through the windows I turned into a sweaty abomination, so I had to have an emergency shower at a friends accom, re-apply my makeup and do some hair restoration with a bottle of Fudge Dry Shampoo (which, by the way, is a total wonder product). While I was walking into the venue I realised I had forgotten my wedding present and had a small internal melt down, but thankfully there were trays of bubbles waiting for us at the gate, so I drank one way too fast, pulled myself together and had a really good time.
Speaking of good times, there are so many great concerts coming up! Check out our ‘What’s On’ guide for a list of our must sees. I’m counting down the days till Lady Gaga and am super excited that Imogen Heap is coming in the same week! It’ll be like a musical Christmas. Fun fun fun. What shows are you excited about? Let me know and you might get the chance to win some free tickets - we’ve got some great giveaways coming your way soon!

They say once you go mac, you never go back, and I can hand-on-heart vouch for that. I made the switch from PC many years ago, and from the moment I pulled my shiny new laptop out of its box, I was in love. On the rare occasion I have to battle with a PC these days it always ends with me crying tears of frustration, we just don’t get along. Yes, I am a big mac fan, but they make it easy for me when they create products like the ‘iPad’. It was revealed today and features Apples most advanced technology to date. It’s totally amazing, check it out here http://www.apple.com/, because I can’t even begin to describe all the cool stuff it does - there’s just so much! And if that doesn’t convert you to the mac camp, well then there’s really no hope for you, sorry.

It’s so heartening to see people come together and do their bit to help in the face of adversity. Hollywood has rallied to raise just about as much money as the American government pledged to Haiti aid, songs are being whipped up and poured out with genuine emotion, and donations are flowing from countries the world over, with New Zealand being no exception.
Dave Gibson is the clever man behind Auckland based t-shirt website www.closet.co.nz, and he’s doing his bit to help Haiti along with some other very lovely, talented and generous people. 4 T-Shirts have been commissioned, featuring the text “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE” - taken from the Haitian coat of Arms which translates to “Strength Through Unity” or “Unity Makes Strength”. The tees have been designed by 4 of New Zealand’s top graphic designers - Kelvin Soh and Simon Oosterdijk (super clever guys), Simon Chesterman (a design superstar), and Sarah Larnach; award winning designer of the Ladyhawke album artwork. Sarah’s involvement is particularly significant because she sadly lost her two nieces and brother-in-law in the tragedy.
These super cool and totally worthy tees can be pre-ordered now at www.closet.co.nz for $19.95, with ALL the profits from each shirt going to the Oxfam Haiti Relief Fund.
I know you’re all lovely ladies, so go buy one - now!

HAPPY WEEKEND!
2 days to chill. Love it. Although the weather sure could come to the party! It’s a good excuse to stay in and get a bunch of stuff done that I’ve been putting off though, like clearing out my drawers! I try to do it at the change of every season, but I’m a bit behind schedule this year. And I have some brand new music to listen to while I’m at it! I just got Vampire Weekend’s new album ‘Contra’. I’m totally obsessed with their song ‘Horchata’, so i’m super excited to hear the whole album. I’ll be listening to it really loud, and probably on rotate for a couple of hours - sorry neighbours! Right, better get to it. Hope you have a relaxing, productive weekend too ladies.
