Why are girls more thoughtful than guys?
Are people born thoughtful? Aka, why are girls more thoughtful than guys?
This question popped up when a girlfriend and I were discussing why men aren’t very thoughtful. Her passion about the topic and my experience with my often thought-less boyfriend quickly got us brainstorming - why don’t guys do many things for other people and when they do they want to be praised for it? At the same time, it is expected for girls to be thoughtful.
What the? Double standards or what!
Examples from us females, we bring house warming gifts, make boyfriends lunches, remember birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. Examples from them males, they will sometimes give us the odd thoughtful moment either for a surprise or as a response to upsetting us but expect us to praise them for it?
To sum up thoughtfulness is simple – it’s a thought. It’s taking time to think about others, someone else and doing something for that person.
Thoughtfulness therefore isn’t genetic; a character related to being female or something that some people have and some people don’t have – it’s simply the choice to think about others.
Some men might tell you – that’s just me; I’m just a forgetful person? Well please feel free to show them this article which clearly shows that you choose who you want to be and being thoughtless is a choice!
A definition just to clear up any misunderstanding for our male associates:
thoughtful•ness n.
Synonyms: thoughtful, considerate, attentive, solicitous
These adjectives mean having or showing concern for the well-being of others. Although thoughtful and considerate are often used interchangeably, thoughtful implies a tendency to anticipate needs or wishes, whereas considerate stresses sensitivity to another’s feelings: a thoughtful friend who brought me soup when I was sick; considerate, quiet neighbors.
