How to…work out like Hilary Duff!
Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens are just some of the celebs who are loving a new style of cardio called ‘Piloxing’.
Piloxing is basically a combination of pilates and boxing - with a few dance moves thrown in! Check out a video of Piloxing in action here.
We’ve put our own spin on a couple of Piloxing moves for you to try out. Because Piloxing combines strength training AND cardio, it’s a great option if you want an effective workout but don’t have a lot of time to spare!
Hopscotch on the spot
Step 1 - Stand with your knees bent and feet shoulder width apart. Have your fists close to your face, gently clenched.
Step 2 - Jump and land with your feet crossed. Jump again, this time landing in start position. Make sure you have a slight bend in your knee joint so you don’t ‘jar’ your knees.
Step 3 - Repeat for 15-20 seconds (alternate crossing your right foot in front then behind your left leg).
Step 4 - Rest, then repeat twice.
Jack in the box
Step 1 - Stand with your weight on your right leg, knees slightly bent.
Step 2 - Hold your palms next to your ears.
Step 3 - Push your arms up, extending your left leg to the side at the same time.
Step 4 - Return to start position and repeat eight times.
Step 5 - Do three sets of eight on each leg.
